Hairy Bear LLC is a small, veteran-owned woodworking and CNC shop located in Longmont, Colorado. It was born in the summer of 2024 out of a desire to start my own business and create the kind of thoughtful, well-designed items that make no compromises when it comes to the quality of materials or craftsmanship. My goal when designing and crafting each piece is to create something that can be used day in and day out, will survive heavy usage, and will maintain it's strength and beauty for years to come.

Lumber Sourcing
My first choice when selecting lumber are two local lumber mills that specialize in reclaiming local trees that have been felled due to age, development, safety (endangering power lines, roads), or have fallen due to wind or snow storms. Instead of treating these trees as waste and simply sending them to a wood chipper or a dump, these mills work with local municipalities, individuals, and their community to give the trees a second chance at life. Currently almost all of the wood used in my shop comes from these lumber mills. Due to the nature of their business however, the types of lumber available at any give time vary considerably, so if they are out of a given wood species I will occasionally source lumber from other responsible sources.
